Positioning and installation of China spherical roller bearings

Spherical roller bearings are annular parts of rolling bearings with one or several raceways. Fixed end bearings use radial bearings that can withstand combined (radial and axial) loads, These bearings include: deep groove ball bearings, double row or paired single row angular contact ball bearings, self-aligning ball bearings, spherical roller bearings, matched tapered roller bearings, NUP cylindrical roller bearings Or NJ cylindrical roller bearing with HJ angle ring.

In addition, the fixed end bearing arrangement can comprise a combination of two bearings.

1. Radial bearings that can only withstand radial loads, such as cylindrical roller bearings with one ferrule without ribs
2. Bearings with axial positioning, such as deep groove ball bearings, four-point contact ball bearings or two-way thrust bearings.

Axially positioned bearings must never be positioned radially, these bearingusually with a small radial clearance when mounted on the housing.

These bearings include: CARB toroidal roller bearings, needle bearings and a cylindrical roller bearing without a rib. Another method is to use a smaller one when mounting on the housing.

1. Lock nut positioning method
When the bearing inner ring is fitted with an interference fit, the inner ring side is usually placed against the shoulder on the shaft. The other side is usually fixed with a lock nut (KMT or KMTA series)

2. Spacer positioning method
Between the bearing rings, or between the bearing ring and the adjacent parts, a spacer bush or spacer ring. It is convenient to replace the overall shoulder or bearing shoulder. In these cases, dimensional and shape tolerances also  apply to related parts.

3. Stepped sleeve positioning
Another method of axial positioning of the bearing uses a stepped bushing. These bushings are especially suitable for precision bearing configurations.  It has a smaller jitter and provides higher accuracy than a threaded lock nut. Stepped bushings are often used for ultra-high-speed spindles, for which conventional locking devices cannot provide sufficient accuracy.

4. Fixed end cap positioning method
When the bearing is fitted with an interference fit, the outer ring of the bearing is installed. Usually one side of the outer ring is placed against the shoulder on the bearing housing, and the other side is fixed with a fixed end cover.

Fixed end caps and their fixing screws have a negative impact on bearing shape and performance in some cases. If the wall thickness between the bearing housing and the screw hole is too small, or the screw is tightened too tight, the outer ring raceway may be deformed. The lightest ISO size series 19 series is more susceptible to such damage than the 10 series or higher series.
