Thin universal washers for needle roller thrust bearings are supplied as separate components. They are made of spring steel and hardened, and both faces of the washers are polished and can be used as raceways. The washers can provide cost-effective solutions, if the adjacent machine components are not hardened, but have adequate stiffness, and the requirements to run-out are moderate. They can be used as shaft or housing washers for AXK series bearings, and as shaft washers for AXW series bearings.

Drawn Cup Needle Roller Bearings have a deep drawn, thin-walled outer ring. Drawn cup needle roller bearings are typically used in applications where the housing bore cannot be used as a raceway for a needle roller and cage assembly, but where a very compact and economical bearing arrangement is required. These bearings are mounted with a tight interference fit in the housing. That enables a simple and economic design of the housing bore, as shoulders or snap rings are not required to locate the bearing axially.
The drawn cup of hardened steel and the needle roller and cage assembly of these bearings form a non-separable unit.

TKW drawn cup needle roller bearings:
-- are supplied without an inner ring
-- are generally designed with one needle roller and cage assembly -- except wide sizes, which incorporate two needle roller and cage assemblies immediately adjacent to each other, with a lubrication hole in the outer ring

Full complement drawn cup needle roller bearings are supplied with a special grease to secure the rollers during transport. However, TKW recommends relubricating after mounting.
Drawn Cup Needle Roller Bearings with Open Ends
Drawn cup needle roller bearings with open ends and with closed end are needle roller bearings with a very small radial section height. They comprise thin-walled, drawn cup outer rings and needle roller and cage assemblies which together form a complete unit. The outer rings adapt themselves to the dimensional and geometrical accuracy of the housing bore.
In contrast to bearings produced by machining methods, the dimensional and geometrical accuracy of drawn cup needle roller bearings with open ends and with closed end is not based on ISO492, but on DIN618. If the shaft cannot be produced as a raceway, the bearings can be combined with inner rings.
Drawn cup needle roller bearings are available either with both ends open or with one end closed.
In addition to the design with a cage, drawn cup needle roller bearings with open ends are also available with a full complement needle roller set. These series have the maximum number of needle rollers and therefore offer extremely high load carrying capacity within a very small design envelope. Their use at high speeds is restricted.
If axial locating elements such as shoulders and snap rings are not used, the housing bore can be produced easily and particularly economically. This also gives simpler mounting and dismounting of the bearings.
In order to support axial forces, the bearings can be combined with axial bearings.
